Gurmat Class Resources
Our Gurmat Class resources are provided below for your personal, professional and community use. You can use them personally as part of your personal journey to learn about Sikhi (the Sikh faith). Educators and Gurmat Class teachers can edit and use them as required for their class needs.
The resources are presented in chronological order but you can pick and choose which ones to use and how to suit your personal needs.
Sikh Learning Trust have been testing the students attending our Gurmat Class on an annual basis. The class focus has been on making a personal development plan for students which is reviewed quarterly, anyone wanting further information on how this was implemented can contact us and we will be happy to share how we did this.
The files below are provided in powerpoint and word, so you can edit the files to cater to your needs. We will continue to add further course content as it is rolled out.
The class resources start with the history of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee and start making their way through the chronological order of the following Gurus, the information we used to make these lessons plans is based upon books translated by Akaal Publishers the titles we used were “The Great Guru Nanak Volumes 1-3” and “Sri Guru Arjan Dev Jee – a short biography.” The lessons include the translations of Japji Sahib and Rehras Sahib. In the lessons you will find Sikh history and discussions on related topics, to make classes interactive. Relevant Shabads (verses) of Gurbani are also translated and used in the lessons, where they are historically relevant or approriate to the teachings being imparted. Harjinder Singh of Akaal Publishers delivered all the lessons and is willing to assist others to use these resources.

There are a total of 21 powerpoints that discuss the meanings of Sri Japji Sahib, the translations are primarily based on the Faridkoth Teeka of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee & the Sant Hari Singh Randhawa ‘Jatha Randawa’ app which have used the katha of Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwale as the basis of their translations with additions from Sant Hari Singh. You will need a Gurmukhi font on some of the slides to see the Gurbani.
